Universities can deliver value for money and maintain world-leading quality

At the recent Universities UK conference on efficiency in higher education, and in the THE last week, we heard that the sector is not responsive and ‘awash with cash’. It may, therefore, seem an easy target for further cuts in the forthcoming spending review, says Chris Hale of Universities UK.

Although the Diamond report on efficiency and effectiveness in higher education showed that these accusations are far from true, the sector has clearly not been getting the message across strongly enough.
